Parent-Teacher Conferences – On Wednesday, February 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the middle school faculty and staff will host parent-teacher conferences. If you are unable to attend, or at any time, feel free to contact the teachers by calling 839-7163, or e-mailing them through Parent Connect/PowerSchool.
Camp Rotary – The 6th grade Camp Rotary trips are scheduled for the weeks of February 27 and March 5. Please have your child’s $40 tuition paid by Monday, February 13. Parent volunteers are still needed for dishwashing at camp on the Monday and Friday of both weeks. Contact Mr. Kent at 839-7163 if you are interested.
EXPLORE – Over three days, Feb. 14-16, the 7th and 8th students will participate in the ACT EXPLORE assessment. The assessment measures the skills and knowledge needed for college success and includes a career exploration component.
Mid-Winter Break – There will be no school on Friday, February 17th or Monday the 20th.
Girls Basketball – The 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball season continues through the month of February. At mid-season, the 7th grade team record stands at 2-2; the 8th grade girls boast an undefeated record of 4-0. Home games begin at 5:00 p.m. and include Northern Michigan Christian (2/2), Manton (2/6), Evart (2/9), Beal City (2/21), and Marion (2/23).
Greenfield Village – The 8th grade Greenfield Village trip is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, April 26 and 27. The balance of the participation fee can be paid at the middle school office before March 15th.
Career Technical Center Visit – The 8th grade class will be touring the Wexford-Missaukee CTC in Cadillac the afternoon of Tuesday, March 6. The students will have an opportunity to learn about the programs offered by the Technical Center. The goal of the outing is to help our students consider their future career choices.
Band Concert Festival – The 8th grade concert band will be traveling to Manistee High School in late February/early March to perform at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association, District 1 Band Festival. The event date will be announced later this month.
Progress Reports – Mid-term progress reports will no longer be mailed to students and parents. The most recent grades are available through Parent Connect/PowerSchool. End-of-the-quarter marking period grades will be mailed as usual.
Finally, if at any time you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s education, please feel free to contact your child’s teachers, our counselor Ms. Porter, or me.
